Appendix A Five Year Transit Service Plan — Proposed Route Changes

Base Routes

Route 1—This base route operates in the Bank corridor independent of the transitway; no changes are proposed.

Route 2—This base route operates in the Richmond/Montreal corridor independent of the transitway; service would be improved to 15 minutes during core periods west of Westboro, would be removed from Jasmine in the east.

Route 4—Upgraded to a base route, operates independent of the transitway in the Bronson corridor in the west and in the north St. Laurent corridor in the east; would be restructured to operate from Billings Bridge through Carleton University via Colonel By and straight along Bronson, service would be improved to 15 minutes during core periods, would replace Route 7 in east end.

Route 8—Upgraded to a base route, operates in the Alta Vista corridor through the downtown via the transitway at Hurdman, and serves Hull via the Chaudiere Bridge; no changes are proposed for this route.

Route 85—This base route operates in the Carling/Smyth Road corridor through the downtown via the transitway; no changes are proposed.

Route 87—This base route operates in the Riverside and transitway corridor to Lebreton; it would be extended to Carlingwood during all time periods.

Route 95—This transitway route would be extended to the Barrhaven.

Route 96—This transitway route would be combined with Route 97.

Route 97—This transitway route would be extended to Kanata Station in the west, frequencies would be improved to compensate for 96.

Route 99—Upgraded to a base route, operates independent of the transitway in the Carling/Queensway corridor bypassing the downtown for fast crosstown service; service would be improved to 15 minutes during core periods, extended to Nortel/Kanata North during peak periods.

Route 111—This base route operates in the Meadowlands/Walkley corridor independent of the transitway; would be removed from Viewmount, straightened on Meadowlands/Heron/Walkley, extended to Lincoln Fields on the transitway in the west; service would be improved to 15 minutes during core periods.

Route 116—Upgraded to a base route operating all day between Baseline and Greenboro in the Hunt Club/Merivale corridor; extended to Lincoln Fields on the transitway during peaks, service would be improved to 15 minutes during core periods.

Route 118—This base route operates in the Baseline corridor independent of the transitway; would be removed from Carleton University, extended to Hurdman from Billing Bridge in the east and to Kanata Station via Terry Fox in the west; service would be improved to 15 minutes during core periods.

Route 125—This former base route will be discontinued in favour of more effective ways of serving the Innes/Industrial corridor; the east end of the corridor will be served by a new base route (Route 129), and west end of the corridor will be served by a new peak period route (Route 195).

Route 129—New base route introduced to operate in the Innes Road corridor replacing the eastern sections of Route 125 and 133; serves Orleans, Blackburn Hamlet and the transitway to Hurdman. It would be combined with Route 28 to become a "combo" route with 15 minute service and would be extended to the downtown during peak periods.

Route 130—New base route introduced to circulate Orleans and focus on the Place D'Orleans Station, replaces Route 120 and parts of Routes 132, 135 and 136

Route 144—This base route operates in the south St. Laurent corridor; combined with peak Route 42 to provide better than 15 minute service during peak periods, would be extended to St. Laurent and Hurdman from Elmvale at all times, and to the downtown during peaks from Greenboro.

Route 165—New base route introduced to circulate Kanata and focus on Kanata Station, replaces parts of Routes 161, and 162.

Route 170—New base route to circulate Barrhaven and focus on the new Fallowfield park-and-ride facility when it is built; it would be a restructuring of old Route 170 which would be replaced north of Fallowfield by Route 95.

Route 172—This base route operates in the Pinecrest corridor; combined with peak Route 67 to provide better service during peak periods; would be extended to downtown during peaks and to Lincoln Fields during other periods, straightened on Pinecrest by removing from Trend Village/Arlington Woods.

Route 176—This base route is restructured to operate in the Merivale corridor replacing Route 175. It would be replaced by Route 116 east of Merivale, extended to Barrhaven through south Merivale industrial area with branches serving Country Place/Grenfell, combined with peak Route 56, extended to downtown from Tunneys Pasture during peaks; service would be improved to 15 minutes during core periods.

Local Routes

Route 3—This former crosstown route serves the Preston/Prince of Wales corridor; it would be straightened by eliminating the Viewmount diversion replacing Route 175 on Prince of Wales south of Meadowlands.

Route 5—This former crosstown route serves the Elgin/Main corridor and Vanier; removed from Island Lodge and Beausoleil which are served by Route 306.

Route 6—This local service serves the Glebe; no changes are proposed.

Route 7—This route serves Carleton University and the Bank corridor in the central area and the Beechwood corridor in the east end. The east end service would be switched with Route 4; Route 4 (a new base route) would serve the east end of current Route 7, and Route 7 would serve the east end of current Route 4. The central area service would be extended through Carleton University via Colonel By to the Meadowlands corridor and Baseline Station significantly improving Carleton access from the west.

Route 14—This former base route serves Ottawa West and the Gladstone and McArthur corridors; no changes are proposed.

Route 16—This former crosstown route serves Ottawa West and the Sandy Hill/Smyth Road area; it would be restructured to use the transitway between Lebreton and Tunneys Pasture and extended to Lincoln Fields.

Route 18—This former crosstown route serves Ottawa West and the Scott and Queen Mary corridors; it would be removed north of Howe in the west.

Route 86—This former crosstown route serves the Fisher corridor in Ottawa West and the Russell corridor in Ottawa South; it would be changed west of Fisher south of Meadowlands to operate along Viewmount replacing Routes 3 and 111; a branch would be extended to Lincoln Fields via the transitway, a branch would serve the Chesterton corridor replacing Route 57.

Route 112—This is a former crosstown route that will be discontinued and replaced by base Routes 111 and 144.

Route 121—This is a former local route that will be discontinued because of low ridership.

Route 123—This former local route serves Gloucester North and the Blair corridor; it would be focused on the Blair Station and would not operate on the transitway, would be discontinued east of Rothwell.

Route 124—This local route is focused on Blair Station and serves the Ogilvie corridor; it would be combined with Routes 23 and 24 to become a "combo" route; would be removed from Ogilvie west of Blair Station and would be extended via the transitway to the downtown during peak periods and to St. Laurent during other periods.

Route 126—This local route is focused on Blair Station and serves the Pineview area; it would be combined with Route 26 to become a "combo" route, and would be extended to downtown via the transitway during peak periods.

Route 127—This local route serves the Montreal/St. Joseph corridor from Blair Station; it would be extended on Ogilvie to the St. Laurent Station, restructured to serve Jasmine, and extended via the transitway to Hurdman during peaks.

Route 128—This local route is focused on Blair Station and serves Blackburn Hamlet; it would be combined with Route 25 to become a "combo" route, would use the Queensway instead of Ogilvie to access Blair Station and would be extended to downtown via the transitway during peak periods.

Route 131—New local route focused on Place D'Orleans Station and providing better circulation in the west end of Orleans; replaces former base Route 125 and local Route 132 in the area.

Route 132—This is a former local route that will be discontinued and replaced by new base Route 130 and new local Route 131 in Orleans.

Route 133—This is a former local route that will be discontinued and replaced by new base Route 129 and new local Route 131 in Orleans.

Route 135—This local route is focused on Place D'Orleans Station and provides circulation in the east end of Orleans; removed west of Tenth Line and extended to serve the new area south of Innes.

Route 136—This local route is focused on Place D'Orleans Station and serves the Charlemagne/Gardenway corridor; changed from Charlemagne to Bottriell and extended to Varennes.

Route 137—This local route is focused on Place D'Orleans Station and provides circulation in the central area of Orleans; no changes are proposed.

Route 140—This local route is focused on Billings Bridge Station and serves Riverside Park and the south Alta Vista corridor; it would be combined with Route 44 to become a "combo" route, would be restructured to serve Southmore only during peak periods, extended to Springland/Flannery to replace Route 146, and extended to downtown via the transitway during peak periods.

Route 141—New local route focused on Billings Bridge Station serving the Smyth Road Hospital Complex and providing better circulation in the Alta Vista/Elmvale area.

Route 142—This local route is focused on Greenboro Station and serves the Bank/Conroy corridor; it would be combined with Route 40 to become a "combo" route, and would be extended to the downtown and Hull via the transitway during peak periods.

Route 143—This is a former local route that will be discontinued and replaced by local Route 145 in the Lorry Greenberg corridor.

Route 145—This former base route serves the Lorry Greenburg corridor; it would be combined with Routes 43 and 45 to become a "combo" route, would be extended to the St. Laurent Station through the Hawthorne and Lancaster industrial parks, and extended to the downtown during peak periods via the transitway at St. Laurent.

Route 146—This local route is focused on Billings Bridge Station serving Riverside Park and the Plante/McCarthy corridor; it would be combined with Route 46 to become a "combo" route, would be removed from Riverside Park to be replaced by Route 140, would use the transitway north of Walkley, and would be extended to downtown via the transitway during peak periods.

Route 147—This local route is focused on Greenboro Station and serves the Uplands area; no changes are proposed except to address planned road closures in the area.

Route 148—This local route is focused on Billings Bridge Station serving the Elmvale area; it would be combined with Route 48 to become a "combo" route operating to downtown from Billings during peak periods, would be straightened to operate in the Kilbourn/Canterbury corridor, and extended to St. Laurent Station via Belfast.

Route 149—This local route is focused on Billings Bridge Station serving the Elmvale area; it would be combined with Route 49 to become a "combo" route operating to downtown from Hurdman during peak periods, would be straightened to operate in the Pleasant Park.

Route 151—This local route is focused on Westboro Station serving the Kirkwood/Iris corridor; it would be restructured to use Kirkwood rather than Merivale, extended into Central Park and removed from Wellington and Western.

Route 152—This is a former local route that will be discontinued and replaced by Routes 153 and 154.

Route 153—New local route focused on Lincoln Fields Station providing service to Bayshore in the Iris corridor; would be combined with Route 78 to become a "combo" route operating to downtown during peak periods.

Route 154—New local route focused on Lincoln Fields Station providing service to Bayshore in the Dumaurier corridor.

Route 156—This local route is focused on Lincoln Fields and Baseline Stations serving the Maitland/Merivale corridor; it would be combined with Route 75 to become a "combo" route operating to downtown from Baseline during peak periods.

Route 161—New local route focused on Kanata Centre Station and providing better circulation in the north and southeast parts of Kanata; this a restructuring of former Route 161.

Route 162—New local route focused on Kanata Centre Station and providing better circulation in the central area of Kanata; this a restructuring of former Route 162.

Route 166—This local route is focused on the Bayshore Terminal serving the Moodie corridor and Nortel; no changes are proposed.

Route 173—This former base route serves the southwest part of Barrhaven; it would be focused on the Barrhaven park-and-ride facility (where transferring to Route 95 can occur), and would be discontinued north of Fallowfield.

Route 174—This local route serves the Majestic/Woodroffe corridor; it would be combined with Route 67 to become a "combo" route operating to downtown via Greenbank/Queensway during peak periods, it would be extended to Trend Village/Arlington Woods in the west replacing Route 172 in the area.

Route 177—This former base route serves the southeast part of Barrhaven; it would be focused on the Barrhaven park-and-ride facility (where transferring to Route 95 can occur), and would be discontinued north of Fallowfield.

Route 178—This local route is focused on Baseline Station and serves the Centrepointe area; it would be extended to Lincoln Fields Station and would operate to downtown during peak periods.

Route 198—This local route is focused on Blair Station and serves the Carson/Codds corridor; it would be combined with Routes 29 and 191 to become a "combo" route operating to downtown during peak periods and Hurdman during other time periods.

Route 306—This community bus route serves the Lower Town area; no changes are proposed.

Route 316—This community bus route serves the Sandy Hill area; no changes are proposed.

Route 356—This community bus route serves the Lincoln Heights area; this route would be discontinued as it parallels local Route 18 and 156.

Downtown Express Services (Premium Fare Routes)

Route 21—This express route serves central Orleans; no changes are proposed.

Route 23—Discontinued, combined with 124 at regular fare.

Route 24—Discontinued, combined with 124 at regular fare.

Route 25—Discontinued, combined with 128 at regular fare.

Route 26—Discontinued, combined with 126 at regular fare.

Route 27—This express route serves central Orleans; would be extended to Hull.

Route 28—Discontinued, combined with 129 at regular fare.

Route 30—This express route serves east Orleans; no changes are proposed.

Route 31—This express route serves west Orleans; no changes are proposed.

Route 32—This express route serves west Orleans; no changes are proposed.

Route 33—This express route serves west Orleans; no changes are proposed.

Route 34—This express route serves west Orleans; no changes are proposed.

Route 35—This express route serves east Orleans; no changes are proposed.

Route 36—This express route serves east Orleans; no changes are proposed.

Route 37—This express route serves north Orleans; no changes are proposed.

Route 38—This express route serves north Orleans; no changes are proposed.

Route 42—Discontinued, combined with 144.

Route 48—Discontinued, combined with 148.

Route 50—This express route serves Britannia north of Route 18; no changes are proposed.

Route 51—This express route serves Iris corridor, uses Queensway to access downtown; no changes are proposed.

Route 55—This express route serves Kirkwood/Holland corridor, uses transitway to access downtown; no changes are proposed.

Route 56—Discontinued, combined with 176.

Route 57—Discontinued, replaced by local route 86.

Route 82—No changes proposed.

Route 88—This express route serves the Alta Vista corridor; no changes except to terminate the route at Lebreton rather than Hull.

Business Park Routes (Regular Fare Routes)

Route 167—This peak route serves the Kanata South business park from Kanata Town Centre, it would be extended to new Kanata Station.

Route 169—This peak route serves the Nortel facilities from Kanata, it would be extended to travel through the Kanata Lakes district

Route 179—This peak route serves E.M.R from the Baseline Station; no changes are proposed.

Route 181—This peak route serves the Bayshore terminal from Barrhaven operating in the Greenbank/Pinecrest corridor; it will use the Queensway from Pinecrest to Bayshore and will be extended to Nortel and the Kanata North business park.

Route 182—This peak route serves Nortel and the Kanata North business park from the Lebreton Station; no changes are proposed.

Route 184—New peak route serving the Colonade industrial area from Hurdman Station.

Route 185—This peak route serves the Colonade and Merivale industrial area from Lincoln Fields Station; no changes are proposed.

Route 187—This peak route serves the Woodward/Laperričre area businesses from Lebreton Station; no changes are proposed.

Route 190—This peak route serves the government facilities in the Blair corridor from Hurdman Station; no changes are proposed.

Route 192—This peak route serves the Lancaster/Sheffield and Hawthorne industrial areas from Hurdman Station; it would be restructured to serve the Cyrville industrial area and would be taken out of Hawthorne industrial park south of Walkley (see local Route 145).

Route 194—This peak route serves Canotek in Gloucester from Hurdman Station; no changes are proposed.

Route 199—New peak route serving the Ottawa Business Park from Billings Bridge Station.

Undirectional Supplemental Routes

Route 13—This is a unidirectional supplemental route that duplicates Route 3 service; it will be discontinued and turned into a peak shuttle service between Albert/Slater and City Hall during peak periods.

Route 11—Discontinued, duplicates the Route 1 service on Bank Street in the west and Route 14 in the east.

Route 15—Discontinued, duplicates the Route 16 service in Ottawa West.

Route 19—Discontinued, duplicates the Route 4 service on Bronson in the west and Route 18 in the east.

Route 108—Discontinued, duplicates the Route 86 service on Holland/Fisher.

Route 150—Discontinued because of low ridership.

Route 171—Will be discontinued when base Route 176 is extended to Barrhaven in the Merivale corridor.

Route 183—Discontinued because of low ridership.

Route 188—Will be discontinued when Agriculture Canada facility closes.

Route 189—Will be replaced when the LRT is installed.

Route 191—Will become a branch of Route 198 in the Service Plan.

Route 193—This peak local service serves Ault Foods from the Place D'Orleans Station; no changes are proposed changes are proposed.

Route 196—This peak local service serves the River Road and the Riverside South area; it is subsidized by the developer, no changes are proposed.
